Little Sadie

20 Feb 2013, by Ben Rodriguez in A SONG A DAY

LITTLE SADIE

iTunes//Amazon//Spotify

The earliest wriitten record of this song dates back to 1922, and back then it was titled “Bad Lee Brown. “Little Sadie” is part of the great American folk music canon, & the lyrics tell the story of a man who is caught by the authorities after shooting his wife/girlfriend. He is then sentenced by a judge. It’s long been a favorite of mine.
